The Truth About Last Minute Cruises
By Bill Harbin Jr
Many people are looking for a bargain and last minute cruises can fit nicely in the
good deal category. However, there are some things you need to know when surfing the web trying to pluck out a nice vacation this way. As a travel agent I am going to let you in on some facts about last minute cruises.
Booking Early Compared to Last Minute Cruises
Cruise lines are constantly changing policies and procedures but here are a few facts you might want to know. Carnival has an “early saver” rate code where they guarantee you will get the best price. I can personally tell you this policy can work to help you.
I booked a balcony cabin for $739 under the early saver guarantee. A client called me for a quote on that same cruise and the price was posted as $699. Carnival reduced my fare when I submitted the information they requested. I still had the choice cabin I wanted when the choosing was good and got
a “last minute” price. Book early with them and keep watching to get the last minute cruise price!
Last Minute Cruises Compared to Sale Prices
Other cruise lines besides Carnival offer good reason to book early and not wait until the last minute. Royal Caribbean claims their lowest price is when the cruise is first introduced. Norwegian cruise
lines many times will offer onboard credits during a sale that really makes the price lower in that sneaky way.
The Frustration With Last Minute Cruises
If I give somebody a price quote in on a last minute cruise they need to be ready to
book instantly. I have seen cabins disappear while I am searching. While searching cruises with a close date there will be gaps in availability. There may be interior prices shown and no balcony cabins. This is especially true during January through March, which is the busiest booking time.
A last minute cruise may give you a bargain on a cabin close to a noisy bar where you hear loud music way too much. I like a cabin close to the free coffee and that last minute deal may be a long walk from my choice. You can save with last minute cruises yet not have the selection that makes you a happy cruiser.
Some folks are early planners and some are last minute cruise lovers. Call me if you like the less stressful early planning way and want some guidance like a friend might do for you. I can find you some REALLY GOOD DEALS on some last minute cruises.
